The beautiful island of Nusa Penida holds a special place in my heart. And I love dogs so the 2 were an instant match made in heaven! Last year I travelled in January with Dr Elaine Cebuliak and fell in love with the dogs, wild life, breath taking scenery and the people. I went back twice more and can't wait to go again.
Kadek Widada Asmara, Vet on Nusa Penida does amazing work with ALL animals. Please donate to help build a clinic he can work from at https://www.gofundme.com/BaliDogs
Kadek Widada is a first year out of vet school Veterinarian supplying the needs of the local community in a small island south of Bali. He is the only local veterinarian in this remote island of Nusa Penida, and has limited resources to help his people and their animals.
He services 3 very low average income islands: Nusa Ceningen, Nusa Lembongan and Nusa Penida. He provides medical and surgical skills for both large animals and small animal work, including desexing, calving, retained placenta, foreign body obstruction and vaccinations.
He is doing fantastic work- there has been no rabies since 2010 in part due to his great work with the Rabies eradication vaccination program. Often he is literally only paid in bananas and fish sometimes, whatever the farmer can afford. Drh Kadek is happy to help his people, but conditions are a bit wanting. He really needs a premise to set up a clinic. He has his eye on a property that he could build a house/clinic on but it will cost $20k. This is impossible to raise this sort of money on his low income a a new graduate veterinary surgeon in the economy he is working in, and he also is helping to fund his younger brother's University education. There would be infinite satisfaction for you helping, and of course you could go on a holiday and see what your donated dollars are doing! Absolutely all donations would be used well and thoughtfully.
